7/1/2026 When you don't feel in controlA controlling boss. A demanding family member. A friend who always has to have the final say.
Many people spend years trying to change the other person. But that’s usually where they lose their power. Ccircumstances don’t create your experience, your thoughts about them do. A controlling boss isn’t what steals your peace. Believing, “I’m trapped. I have no choice. They control my future,” is what creates suffering. When you change your thinking, you begin to see options you couldn’t see before. You can communicate more effectively, set boundaries and stop personalizing their behavior. And if the environment is truly unhealthy, you can create a plan to leave instead of making emotional decisions in the heat of the moment. That might mean updating your résumé, building your savings, networking quietly, applying for new opportunities, and documenting inappropriate behavior to create a paper trail if it’s needed. A thoughtful exit is still an act of courage. Leadership isn’t about waiting for someone else to change. It’s about taking radical ownership of your own mindset, your own decisions, and your next move. The more energy you spend trying to control your boss, the less energy you have to build the life and career you actually want. One of the greatest traps our minds fall into is scarcity. “If I leave this job, how will I pay my bills?” “No one else will hire me.” “I have to tolerate this because this boss controls my livelihood.” But that’s an illusion. Your boss signs your paycheck. Allah provides your provision. Those are not the same thing. Your boss is simply one of the means through which Allah provides. The Source has never been your employer. The Source has always been Allah. That doesn’t mean you quit tomorrow without a plan. And don’t stay because you’ve unconsciously made your boss your provider. When we believe one person holds our future in their hands, we hand them power that belongs only to Allah. Trusting Allah isn’t passive. It’s taking wise action while believing that no door closes except by His permission and no door opens except by His mercy. Sometimes the greatest freedom isn’t walking away from a difficult boss. It’s walking away from the belief that they control your provision. If you’re navigating a difficult relationship at work or in your personal life and want to reclaim your peace, confidence, and sense of direction, I’d love to help.
