6/7/2025 When things didn't go wellYou dropped out of the master’s program. 📜
You started a business that didn’t take off. 📉 You were let go from a job and never really recovered your confidence. 📂 And somewhere along the way, you stopped seeing these as things that happened. You started seeing them as who you are. “I’m a failure.” “I’m not the type of person who finishes things.” “I’m not cut out for big opportunities.” So when someone says: “You should apply for that role!” “You’d be amazing for this leadership opportunity.” “You should consider doing ________.” Your body reacts instantly. Tension. Panic. Resistance. Your brain yells: “Nope. Not for me. I already know how this ends.” It’s not logic—it’s survival mode. Your brain is wired to avoid danger. ⚠️ And emotional pain lights up the same neural pathways as physical pain. So any time a similar opportunity presents itself… Your brain pulls the emergency brake. “This feels like last time. We’re not doing that again.” But here’s the thing: avoiding the discomfort doesn’t protect you. It traps you. From a coaching perspective, this is where real transformation happens. We stop arguing with the past and start exploring: • What are the thoughts and beliefs that keep looping? • How can we process the emotional memory instead of avoiding it? • How do we rebuild self-trust and agency so you feel safe trying again? The Prophet ﷺ said, “… Strive for that which benefits you, seek the help of Allah, and do not feel helpless.” Sometimes, we’re so wrapped up in our story of failure, we don’t even notice the door He’s opened. I offer a free consultation call to help Muslim women break out of fear-based patterns and step into the version of themselves they were always meant to be-- strong, grounded, purposeful, and led by their deen.
