2/8/2025 When Someone Gets Under Your Skin…Ever noticed how certain people just irritate you for no clear reason? It could be a co-worker, a friend, or even your own child. You feel triggered, but you can’t quite put your finger on why.
Often, it’s because they’re holding up a mirror 🪞 to a trait we dislike in ourselves—or one we fear others see in us. For example, if you can’t stand a “know-it-all,” it might be because you have that same tendency (but try to hide it) or because you’re afraid people already see you that way. This can even happen with our kids. If a child is stubborn, and we also have a stubborn streak, their behavior might frustrate us more than it should. Ali bin Abi Talib (RA) said: “The flaws you see in others are often a reflection of your own self.” This profound wisdom invites us to look inward when we feel irritated. What trait are we seeing that we need to work on within ourselves? When we identify and address it, we free ourselves from negativity and strengthen our relationships. Have you ever experienced this? I’d love to hear your reflections. If you would like to see how coaching can help you, Email me to schedule your free consultation.
