We don’t realize it, but we spend just as much energy doubting ourselves as we would believing in what’s possible.
The brain thinks that not believing is more realistic. It tells you, “Be careful. Don’t get your hopes up. What if it doesn’t work?” But in reality, not believing is just a defense mechanism—a way to avoid disappointment and conserve energy. Believing in something new feels harder because the brain prefers to stay comfortable. It doesn’t want to spend energy on something uncertain. But comfort isn’t the goal—growth is. Allah (SWT) reminds us in the Quran: “And when you have decided, then rely upon Allah. Indeed, Allah loves those who rely upon Him.” (3:159) Trusting that something is possible and going for it is part of tawakkul—putting in the effort and leaving the outcome to Allah. So, if you’re already spending energy doubting yourself, why not redirect that energy to believing in yourself instead? Imagine what could happen if you did.
