You finally do something that takes courage--
You share something personal with a loved one. You put your business idea out into the world. You step into a bigger role in your career. And then… your body crashes. Your heart is still pounding. Your stomach feels unsettled. Your brain just wants to shut down—crawl under a blanket, delete everything, disappear for a bit. This isn’t self-doubt. It’s your nervous system trying to recover. You just did something that required energy, courage, and exposure—now your brain wants to retreat like a turtle back into its shell. But here’s the thing: this feeling is temporary. Imam Al-Ghazali رحمه الله said: “Do not be sad when others do not appreciate your struggle. Remember, the One who truly matters is always watching.” Your job isn’t to avoid this feeling. It’s to ride it out without letting it dictate your next move. Let your body regulate. Take deep breaths. Go for a walk. Hydrate. Let the adrenaline settle. And most importantly—don’t undo what you just did. Because the next time you put yourself out there, it won’t feel as intense. Your capacity for courage grows every time you use it.
