The Real Work

There’s nothing wrong with symbolic acts. Write the limiting belief on paper. Burn it. Shred it. Tear it up dramatically if you want. But that alone doesn’t actually remove the belief from your brain 🧠

Because beliefs are not stored in the paper. 📄

They’re stored in your nervous system, your thinking patterns, and the emotional conditioning attached to the thought.

A lot of people want relief from a limiting belief without ever feeling the discomfort the belief creates.

But that discomfort is exactly where the freedom is.

A belief loses power when you stop resisting the feeling attached to it.

Your brain offers thoughts because it thinks it’s helping you.

Even the most limiting beliefs usually started as protection.

“I’m not good enough.” → protects you from risking failure.
“People will judge me.” → protects you from rejection.
“I can’t do that.” → protects you from discomfort and uncertainty.

The brain is not evil. It’s efficient. Predictable. Protective.

So instead of trying to “delete” the thought instantly, coaching teaches you to slow down and actually examine it.

Where did I learn this?
When did I decide this was true?
What was my brain trying to protect me from?
Why did this thought feel useful to hold onto?

And then the real work begins:

Feeling the emotion the belief creates in your body without running from it.
Not buffering.
Not distracting.
Not overworking.
Not doom scrolling.
Not immediately trying to replace the thought with fake positivity.

Just sitting with it.

Because when you allow the feeling instead of fearing it, something powerful happens:

You realize the thought is just a sentence in your brain.
Not a prophecy.
Not your identity.
Not absolute truth.

Just a practiced thought.

And this is where self-leadership begins.

Your brain can offer the thought. But you don’t have to obey it.

You can learn to direct your brain instead of being directed by it.

That’s the work coaching helps people do.

Not surface-level motivation.
Not pretending negative thoughts don’t exist.

But learning how to understand your mind, process emotions, and intentionally choose who you want to become.
