6/17/2026 The 2 am panicEver have a 2 a.m. moment where you think:
“I can’t do this anymore.” Maybe it’s your job. Your whole career. Your relationship. Your business. At 2 a.m., quitting can feel like the only way to make the discomfort stop. But before you make a life-changing decision, there are two things that need to happen. First, the emotional state you’re in needs to be processed. Fear, disappointment, frustration, grief, overwhelm, these emotions deserve space, understanding, and compassion. When we react from an unprocessed emotion, we’re usually trying to escape a feeling rather than solve a problem. But that’s only half the equation. The second step is creating a plan and taking action. Don’t make decisions from emotional exhaustion. Instead, regulate the emotion, get clear on the facts, and then evaluate your options from a grounded place. Too many people either: * Stay stuck in their emotions and never act. * Or act impulsively without processing their emotions. Both create unnecessary suffering. Now, if you’re in a situation that is genuinely dangerous or unsafe, that’s different. Protecting yourself comes first. But if you’re facing a challenge, discomfort, uncertainty, or growth, don’t quit simply because it’s hard. Sometimes the very thing you’re trying to escape is developing the strength, resilience, patience, and capacity you need for what’s to come. The challenge may not be permanent. But the person you become by working through it can be.
