7/20/2026 Safely follow your dreamYou don’t have to choose between your dream and your safety.
One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is that if you really believe in your dream, you should quit your job, burn the boats, and force yourself to make it work. That works for some people. But it also creates a brain that is constantly scanning for danger. “What if I don’t make enough money?” “What if my savings run out?” “What if I made a huge mistake?” At first, the excitement can drown out those thoughts. But eventually, your brain’s primary job kicks in: keep you safe. When your brain perceives financial insecurity, it becomes much harder to access creativity, make good decisions, or stay focused. You’re trying to build a dream while your nervous system is sounding the alarm 🚨 The other option is what I recommend to most of my clients: the transition plan. Keep the job that provides financial stability. Let that paycheck become the investor funding your future. Then spend an hour a day, your evenings, or your weekends building the life you actually want. Your brain will protest. “It isn’t enough time.” “If I can’t do it full-time, why bother?” This is where the coaching begins. Your thoughts create your results, not your circumstances. An hour of focused, intentional work every day will outperform years of waiting for the “perfect” time. Consistency compounds. Small, repeated actions create evidence. That evidence builds belief. And belief is what allows you to grow into bigger decisions with confidence instead of fear. During the transition, I encourage my clients to keep reminding themselves: “I am safe. My job isn’t delaying my dream. It’s financing it.” That feeling of safety is not the enemy of your dream. It’s the foundation that allows your dream to grow. After six months of consistent action, my clients don’t just have more progress, they have proof. They have skills they’ve built, clients they’ve served, confidence they’ve earned, and evidence that they’re capable of creating the future they want. It’s much easier to coach a brain that feels safe into taking small, consistent action than it is to coach a brain in survival mode.
