“So he called out to his Lord, ‘Indeed, I am overpowered, so help me!’” (Surah Al-Qamar 54:10)
There are times when we feel completely overpowered. Right now, we see this on a macro level. The struggle in Palestine, the challenges facing the Ummah, the injustice across the world—it feels like an unbearable weight. But history has shown us that when oppression reaches its peak, the greatest power is in calling upon Allah. This is exactly what Nuh (AS) did. He was overpowered, exhausted, seemingly alone—so he turned to Allah. And when he did, everything changed. The macro always reflects the micro. What is happening in the world is a reflection of struggles within us. If our Ummah is calling out to Allah, it’s time to ask: What in your own life feels like defeat? Where do you feel stuck, powerless, or unsure of the way forward? Ramadan is the time to return to Allah, to call upon Him, and to take action in our own lives—because transformation starts within.
