“And when it is said to them, ‘Follow what Allah has revealed,’ they say, ‘Rather, we will follow what we found our forefathers upon.’ Even if Satan was inviting them to the punishment of the Blaze?” (Surah Luqman 31:21)
This ayah holds a powerful truth about human nature. The people in this ayah reject divine guidance, not because they’ve analyzed it and found it lacking, but because they are clinging to what is familiar—the ways of their forefathers. It reminds me of a conversation I once had with a client. She knew she was meant for something more, but she kept telling herself, “This is just how things have always been in my family.” Her brain 🧠 was trying to convince her that staying in the familiar was safer—even though it was keeping her stuck and unfulfilled. This is what our minds do. They favor familiarity over truth and growth, even when familiarity is keeping us in cycles of frustration, doubt, or stagnation 🔄 Growth 🌱 success, and even faith itself require us to question the familiar and align ourselves with truth and wisdom, even when it feels uncomfortable at first. Are you stuck in patterns that no longer serve you simply because they are familiar? If you feel called to step into something greater but your mind keeps pulling you back, let’s talk.
