In Surah Al-Israa, Allah (SWT) says:
“Each one acts according to their own disposition, and your Lord is most knowing of who is best guided to the straight path.” (17:84) Growing up, I never truly understood this ayah. I was focused on getting A’s in school but didn’t really understand myself—what I was naturally drawn to or what strengths Allah had given me. When high school graduation came, I felt lost. I didn’t know what to pursue in college, and after completing my general requirements, I randomly declared biology as my major. The counselor said, “You have to choose something,” and I just blurted it out. There was no thought, no intention—just a desire to move forward and not feel stuck. But that confusion didn’t end with my degree. It followed me, because I hadn’t taken the time to truly understand how Allah designed me, the qualities He gave me, and what they were meant for. This ayah is a profound reminder that each of us has been crafted with distinct traits that shape our path and purpose. When we take the time to reflect on how we’ve been created, it opens up clarity, direction, and deep gratitude. The confusion lingers until we pause, reflect, and embrace our God-given design. And once we do, we unlock a sense of purpose that feels both natural and fulfilling. If you’ve been feeling stuck or unsure about your direction, I invite you to Email me to book a free consultation.
