2/6/2026 Money Safety“I just want to feel safe with money.” Is a thought many people have.
And what the brain often translates that into is: 👉 If I just save more 👉 If the number gets bigger 👉 If the bank balance hits X then I’ll finally feel secure. I coached a client recently whose husband was strict with finances, he kept telling her he was saving. The balance grew but his fear didn’t go away. So we slowed down and asked: • What amount would actually make him feel safe? • Is it 6 months of expenses? One year? Two? • How much did he already have now? My client said her husband didn’t know, he was saving endlessly. He hadn’t even determined what amount would make him feel safe. So I coached her on how to have this important conversation with him. No amount of money actually creates safety your thoughts do. In Islam, wealth is understood as a trust (amanah) from Allah, not something that inherently gives you peace of mind just by existing in your bank account. How you earn it, how you use it, and how you orient your heart toward Allah matter far more than the number itself. We are taught about tawakkul, relying on Allah while still taking means, which means we plan, we save, we prepare but our sense of security comes from Allah, not from digits on a screen. This doesn’t mean don’t save but when security becomes a never-ending chase, that’s where the anxiety lives. In the Quran, Allah says about provision (rizq): “…And whoever fears Allah — He will make for him a way out and provide for him from sources he could never imagine.” (Surah At-Talaq 65:2-3) This reminds us that rizq is ultimately from Allah and security isn’t just financial, it’s trust in Him. In coaching this client she: • Learned how to define intentional goals, not endless ones • Have courageous conversations with her spouse instead of anxious assumptions • Separate practical planning from fear-driven accumulation • And root her sense of peace in what truly sustains, not just dollars, but trust in Allah and clarity in her values If this resonates, and you want support untangling your relationship with money and safety, I offer free one-on-one consultations, a grounded conversation about what real security looks like for you.
