7/10/2026 Money problems?What is money?
Whenever I ask my clients this question, they never answer the question itself. Instead, they tell me what money does. “It pays the bills.” “It gives me freedom.” “It lets me do what I want.” So I ask again: No what is money? A client told me, “Growing up, my mom always made us feel like we didn’t have enough.” I respond, “That’s not what money is. That’s your mother’s story about money and your experience of it.” One client said, “Money is a measurement of our worth.” Absolutely not! Your worth is not something you earn. It is not determined by your salary, your bank account, your title, or your net worth. Our worth was given to us by Allah long before we earned our first dollar. It is inherent. It cannot be increased by money or decreased by losing it. So what is money? Money is simply an agreement that represents an exchange of value. It’s a shared thought that something of value is being exchanged for something else of value. Your brain doesn’t respond to money itself, it responds to the meaning you’ve attached to money. If your subconscious believes: • Money is scarce. • Rich people are selfish. • I never have enough. • I have to struggle to earn money. your brain will constantly look for evidence that these beliefs are true. This is confirmation bias at work. Your nervous system then treats earning, spending, investing, or even asking for what you’re worth as a threat instead of an opportunity. These beliefs become the lens through which you make every financial decision. This is why two people can make the exact same income yet experience completely different levels of peace, generosity, and abundance. Your results with money are created far less by the dollars in your bank account than by the thoughts you repeatedly practice about money. Change the thinking, and you begin changing the actions that create different financial results. Money itself is neither good nor bad. It is a trust (amanah). A tool. A means, not the destination. Allah is Ar-Razzaq, the Ultimate Provider. Money is simply one of the many means through which His provision reaches us. If your relationship with money is built on fear, shame, scarcity, or self-worth, it can quietly put your biggest dreams on hold. You delay starting the business. You undercharge. You don’t invest in yourself. You stay in work that drains you. Not because money is stopping you, but because your thoughts about money are. Finally seeing money for what it really is the biggest financial breakthrough to earning more. If you’re ready to uncover the beliefs that are quietly limiting your goals, I’d love to help. Let’s start creating a healthier relationship with money, one that aligns with both your faith and the future you’re working toward. Email [email protected] to book your free consultation call.
