6/7/2026 MistakesOne of the most powerful things you can do after a mistake is stop arguing with reality.
It happened. Now what? Many of us spend so much time replaying the past, wishing we had done something differently, that we miss the opportunity to learn from it. Accountability is empowering. Not accountability as punishment. Accountability as ownership. Instead of: ❌ “Why did I do that?” ❌ “I can’t believe I messed up.” ❌ “I should have known better.” Try: ✅ “What can I learn from this?” ✅ “What will I do differently next time?” ✅ “How can I create a better plan going forward?” Mistakes only exist in the future. The version of you sitting here today already has new awareness. The person who made that decision yesterday didn’t know what you know now. Today’s awareness creates tomorrow’s wisdom. Allah (SWT) repeatedly calls us to reflect, repent, learn, and return to Him. The believer is not someone who never makes mistakes. The believer is someone who turns back, learns, and keeps moving forward. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Every son of Adam sins, and the best of those who sin are those who repent.” When we take responsibility, seek forgiveness, and create a better plan, we transform a setback into growth. So if you’re carrying around a mistake from the past, ask yourself: What lesson is this here to teach me? Then take that lesson and build your next step. That’s where your power is. To be able to forgive yourself and ask this question takes a solid foundation of self worth and self trust within you.
