One of the biggest traps we fall into when making decisions is waiting to feel better before moving forward ⏩
But time ⏳ doesn’t heal indecision. Time makes indecision heavier. It turns uncertainty into self-doubt. And self-doubt into stagnation. When we’re trying to decide on something we’ve never done before—like finally figuring out what we want to do with our lives, or learning how to manage our thoughts and emotions instead of being overwhelmed by them—we expect it to feel good. But the truth? New decisions often feel bad. Not because they’re wrong. But because they’re unfamiliar. That gut feeling you’re waiting for? That “this feels right”? That’s often your brain voting for what’s known—even if what’s known isn’t working anymore. But if you want different results? You have to make different decisions. And those will come with discomfort, fear, and a whole lot of “what if this is a mistake?” That doesn’t mean it’s wrong. It means you’re human. And your brain 🧠 is doing what it was designed to do: keep you safe by keeping you the same. Let’s be clear: Discomfort comes with both types of decisions. • You can feel a negative emotion and get a net negative result—like overspending to feel better temporarily, or staying stuck in confusion because it’s familiar. • Or you can feel a negative emotion and get a net positive result—like discovering your purpose, finally following through on your goals, and having tools to navigate life with more peace and clarity. From an Islamic perspective, I always come back to this ayah: “And whoever relies upon Allah – then He is sufficient for him.” (Qur’an 65:3) Taking a new step doesn’t mean you’re doing it alone. It means you’re showing up with tawakkul—doing your part, and trusting Allah with the rest. If you’re sitting on a decision, waiting to feel better, I invite you to take a different approach: Let’s talk about the return—in your mindset, your peace, your goals, your life.
