6/2/2025 It's not rudenessSometimes it’s not rudeness. It’s mismanaged anxiety.
A message goes unanswered. An invitation is declined last-minute. A response comes off short or cold. Not because the other person doesn’t care. But because their nervous system is in survival mode. Because they’re overwhelmed, anxious, and stretched thin. And when anxiety goes unaddressed, it leaks out. Not as tears. But as distance. Irritability. Avoidance. And sometimes as what others read as rudeness. But here’s the truth: In Islam, adab (manners) is not just about how we treat others. It’s also about how we tend to our inner world. The Prophet ﷺ said, “The strong one is not the one who overcomes people by his strength, but the one who controls himself while in anger.” If we’re constantly overwhelmed, constantly reactive, constantly pulling away… It’s not just about social etiquette. It’s a spiritual call to pause, reflect, and realign. And this is what coaching helps with. So many of my clients come in saying: “I don’t like how I show up when I’m stressed.” “I know I’m not being who I want to be with my kids or my husband.” “I’m tired of spinning in my mind.” We work on calming their system. Rebuilding self-trust. And living from a place of intentionality not anxiety. I offer free consultations to help you gain clarity on where your stress is really coming from — and how to start managing it in a way that aligns with your faith and your values.
