7/8/2025 Intentional RestRest isn’t the problem. The way we think about rest is.
A client of mine recently got sick. She messaged me saying, “This is the first time I’ve been okay with resting.” No guilt. No fear of falling behind. No mental drama. Just clean, intentional rest. And as soon as she felt better—she jumped back into her goals with clarity and motivation. You know what’s wild? She actually recovered faster. Because when your brain isn’t weighed down by judgment or pressure, your body heals better. When you give yourself permission to rest, you bounce back stronger. Now compare that to what many of us do: 😣 “I lost momentum.” 😤 “I was doing so well and now I’ve ruined it.” 😔 “This always happens when I try to be consistent.” The truth is: ➡️ You don’t fall behind because you took a break. ➡️ You fall behind when you beat yourself up for needing one. Your thoughts slow you down more than your rest ever could. This is why coaching is so powerful. It’s not about changing your circumstances—it’s about how you think through them. From an Islamic perspective: The Prophet ﷺ said, “Your body has a right over you.” We are accountable for how we treat our bodies—including how we speak to ourselves when they ask for rest.
