"I'm not the kind of person who does that"

Yesterday I was working with one of my clients, a physician who came to the session wanting:

• Work-life balance
• A new job
• A side business
• A legacy

Four big goals.

But when we slowed down, it became clear these weren’t actually four separate things.

They were all pointing to one thing: purpose.

So I told her: Let’s clean this up.

When we figure out your purpose, the business model that supports your purpose will naturally create the work-life balance and legacy you’re looking for.

You don’t necessarily need a new job.
And your purpose probably isn’t meant to be a side business.

Because purpose isn’t something we do on the side.

A side business is often something like buying an existing laundromat or investing in a system that already runs.

Purpose is different.

Purpose comes from the heart.
It asks for your attention, creativity, energy and leadership.

It’s something you build, not something you squeeze into spare time.

So instead of rushing into random decisions, we opened up the possibility of her staying in her current role while working through my Purpose Program (30 videos + worksheets) to deeply figure out:

What her purpose actually is
And what kind of business model would allow it to thrive.

Her first thought?

“But I’ve never had a business. I’m not entrepreneurial.”

And that’s where the real coaching began.

I reminded her:

You had the exact same thought the first time you became a mom.

You had never done it before.
You didn’t know what you were doing.

And now?

You’re raising a toddler beautifully.

It clicked instantly.

Because building a business aligned with purpose is a lot like raising a child.

You don’t magically know everything on day one.

You learn step by step.

Entrepreneurs aren’t people who were born knowing how to run businesses, they are people willing to stay in possibility long enough to figure it out.

The brain loves to offer thoughts like:

“I’ve never done this.”
“I don’t know how.”
“I’m not the kind of person who does that.”

But those thoughts aren’t facts.

They’re just the brain trying to keep things familiar and safe.

When we open ourselves to possibility thinking, everything changes.

Instead of asking:

“Am I capable of this?”

We start asking:

“What would it look like if I were?”

And from there a completely new future becomes available.

If you’re feeling pulled toward something bigger in your life but your brain keeps saying “I don’t know how” or “that’s not for me,” you’re the kind of person I love working with.

Your purpose might be much closer than you think.
