6/18/2026 Flaking on yourselfYou keep your promises to everyone else.
You show up for work. You meet deadlines. You help your family. You support your friends. People trust you because your word means something. But when it comes to yourself? You say you’ll wake up early. You say you’ll start the business. You say you’ll exercise. You say you’ll set the boundary. You say you’ll take the course. You say you’ll make that phone call. And then you don’t. You flake on yourself. Many people think this is a time management problem. It’s not. It’s a relationship problem. The relationship you have with yourself. Self-confidence is created when you have your own back and learn to trust yourself. Every time you make a commitment to yourself and break it, you weaken that trust. Every time you follow through, you strengthen it. Working on becoming the person who honors her decisions regardless of how she feels in the moment is life changing. Feelings change. Commitment doesn’t. If you consistently keep your word to others but not yourself, it’s worth asking: Why are other people worthy of my commitment, but I’m not? Why do I believe everyone else’s goals matter more than mine? Why do I treat promises to myself as optional? You are the one person you live with 24 hours a day. The quality of your life is directly connected to the quality of your relationship with yourself. Start small. Make one promise. Keep it. Then make another. Trust is built one kept commitment at a time. If you’re struggling to follow through on the things that matter most to you let’s uncover what’s really getting in the way.
