4/24/2025 Don't force your past to be your futureThe more you feel bad about your past…
the more you create things to feel bad about in your future. I worked with a client who couldn’t stop replaying her “mistakes” from her 20s. She kept saying things like: “I should’ve chosen a different major.” “I wasted so many years.” “I can’t believe I let myself get that off track.” Because of those thoughts, she hesitated to make new decisions. She avoided applying to programs that could’ve helped her grow. She delayed launching the business she’d been dreaming about. Her past became the script for her future. Until she learned this one truth: Your past doesn’t create your results. Your thoughts about your past do. Imam Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullah) said: “Shaytan rejoices more in the believer’s despair than in his sin.” SubhanAllah. It’s not the mistake that breaks us—it’s the decision to live within and stay stuck in that moment. In Islam, we are taught that Allah forgives all sins—He is At-Tawwab, Al-Ghaffar, Ar-Raheem. Whether it’s an actual sin or even an actual mistake, Allah has already moved on from your past, why haven’t you? Your results are waiting. When you release the shame, you reclaim your future. Let’s clean up the thoughts that are blocking your future—and build from where you are now. Your past is not your punishment. It’s part of your preparation.
