4/10/2025 Certainty can be the enemy of growthCertainty can be the enemy of growth.
We think being “certain” protects us. But sometimes, it traps us in a version of reality that isn’t even true. You’re so certain your dream would never work… But what if you’re wrong—and it actually does? You’re so certain your life can’t improve… But what if you just have a blind spot? You’re so certain that putting yourself out there will be a disaster, that no one will like you… But what if people are waiting for someone like you? One of my clients was convinced her coworkers didn’t like her. She believed it was because they were older and more experienced—she assumed they saw her as naive and too young. That belief made her withdraw, keep to herself, eat lunch alone, and stay silent in meetings. During coaching, she finally agreed to test a new thought: What if that’s not true at all? What if they’re actually curious about me—and think I’m the one who’s closed off? So she got brave. She went in and said hello to everyone. She chatted. Had lunch with the team. Spoke up in the meeting. And you know what happened? Her supervisor publicly applauded her insight and said she was going to implement her suggestion. Her coworkers all said their so happy she finally came around and really enjoyed her presence. Turns out she really enjoyed their company too. One day of courage, and everything she’d believed for a year about her workplace got completely debunked. Umar ibn Al-Khattab (RA) said, “Take account of yourselves before you are taken to account.” This self-inquiry is where growth begins. It’s not about blame—it’s about possibility. If you’re ready to question the beliefs that are keeping you stuck… If you want a space where your dreams aren’t dismissed—but explored with faith, strategy, and curiosity… Let’s talk.
