10/15/2025 Are you avoiding something? Most of us spend our lives avoiding negative ➖emotion.
And at first glance, it doesn’t even look like we’re avoiding it. We tell ourselves, “I’m just sad,” or “I’m stressed,” or “I’m overwhelmed.” But often, what we’re really feeling is the pain of avoiding the true emotion underneath. The brain 🧠 is clever — it’s always calculating. If it thinks actually feeling an emotion might be a 9 out of 10 on the pain scale… and avoiding it is only a 4 out of 10… it will always choose the 4. So it sends you to scroll 📱snack 🍪 binge a show, stay “busy,” or replay thoughts over and over. These are just numbing tools — distractions from what’s really asking to be felt. But avoiding doesn’t make the emotion go away. It just keeps you at a low-level ache for years. It’s like choosing to carry 20 pounds every day for years instead of lifting 40 pounds once and putting it down for good. The short, intense lift hurts more in the moment —but after that, you’re free. Allah (SWT) tells us, “Indeed, with hardship comes ease.” (Qur’an 94:6) Notice — ease doesn’t come instead of hardship. It comes through it. When you allow yourself to feel what’s hard — sadness, disappointment, fear -- you’re not being weak. You’re walking the path Allah designed: feeling, reflecting, and growing through what He placed in front of you. And when you process emotions instead of running from them, you make space for growth, clarity and purpose. If you’re tired of feeling stuck or numb and you’re ready to feel, heal, and move forward -- book a free consultation and we’ll explore how to release what’s been holding you back and start living with clarity and purpose.
